How our Founder/CEO, Stella Heesom is Leading with Purpose

For many, the tech industry is synonymous with innovation, speed, and convenience. But for Stella Heesom, the founder of TechForGood, technology is more than just business—it’s a force for meaningful change.

Breaking the Status Quo in Tech

TechForGood isn’t just another tech reseller. In an industry often focused solely on profit, Heesom is proving that technology can—and should—serve a higher purpose. Her company, 100% female-owned and a Certified B Corp, is built on the belief that tech can be a vehicle for both social and environmental impact.

Launched in November 2021, TechForGood has seen meteoric growth. From modest beginnings with $19,647 in sales in its first year, it has now skyrocketed to nearly $1.8 million in its third year. This phenomenal trajectory earned TechForGood a No.8 ranking on The Australian Financial Review Fast Starters list.

But what’s driving this success? A business model that prioritises impact over empty promises.

The Purpose Behind the Profit

The tech sector is often criticised for its high carbon footprint and profit-driven motives. During the COVID-19 crisis, Heesom observed first-hand how the industry failed to step up—whether it was helping isolated seniors connect with family or ensuring remote education access for disadvantaged students.

Faced with a choice—walk away from an industry she had spent 20 years in or challenge it from withinStella chose the latter. The result? TechForGood, a company that redefines what it means to do business in tech.

  • 2% of every sale goes directly towards funding social benefit initiatives
  • We're certified carbon neutral and proud to offset more than twice our emissions.  Unlike many social enterprises, TechForGood does not charge a “purpose premium”—ensuring accessibility and affordability for businesses looking to procure better.
  • It offsets all Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions—making it a certified carbon-neutral technology supplier.

Social Procurement Done Right

For many government and corporate buyers, social procurement is no longer just a buzzword—it’s a necessity. Companies bidding for major contracts need to show that their supply chains align with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles.

TechForGood steps in to make that process seamless.

“We fill that gap on a much larger scale,” says Heesom. “We allow our customers to go beyond compliance—to actually live out their social procurement policies in a way that has measurable impact.”

By partnering with TechForGood, organisations don’t just check a box—they become active participants in creating a fairer, more sustainable world.

Scaling with Impact

Despite its rapid growth, TechForGood has no sales team. It has grown solely through word-of-mouth referrals, a testament to the company’s authenticity and 95% customer retention rate.

However, building a purpose-driven business comes with challenges. Finding technically skilled talent who align with TechForGood’s values has been an uphill battle. Heesom admits that navigating an industry resistant to change hasn’t been easy, but transparency remains the company’s North Star.

“You can’t claim to be purpose-driven and only do part of it,” she says. “It has to be embedded in everything you do.

The Future of TechForGood

TechForGood is more than a business—it’s a movement. By 2027, the company aims to:

- Create 1 million digital connections
- Donate 1 million GB of data

At a time when businesses are being challenged to align with ethical and sustainable practices, TechForGood is proving that doing good and doing business don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
